Walsh told TheInsiders, "Lee Grimes is a dominant player who is a great athlete, and for his size, Lee can really move. He has grown into his body. He's got really good feet and has a great work ethic."
"Lee is in the gym at 6:00a.m. every morning, getting his running and lifting in. Then, after school, he gets with the other lineman and works out," Walsh continued. "He's an amazing kid."
Amazing is right! Grimes didn't allow a single sack last season and laid 51 pancakes on opponents. And, according to Coach Walsh, the dominant run/pass blocker "will flat out hit ya!"
Need more proof about his athletic abilities?
Walsh said they were at a track meet recently and Grimes was throwing the football, consistently launching the ball 65-70 yards.
Talk about being Jared Lorenzenesque...
So why did Grimes chose A&M?
"He felt comfortable in College Station," Walsh said. "Lee said it felt like home and Coach Fran really made an impression on him.
Grimes had numerous offers including one from Kansas State and Oklahoma State, but Walsh said, "We had a feeling he would stay in Texas to go to school and play ball."
According to Walsh, Grimes can "bench 310, squat 485, power clean 310, incline 275 and clock a very fast 5.23 forty time..."
