Texas RB Jamaal Charles Has Options

Jamaal Charles is arguably one of the top running back prospects in the Lone Star state. He recently landed another big-time offer. We caught up with him to go over the details of that as well as the last few weeks of his recruitment.

Recent scholarship offers?

"I just got an offer from Florida," Jamaal Charles said. "And that felt real good. I'm looking at them now. I'm looking at everybody."

Schools to offer thus far are as follows: "Florida, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Arizona, Arkansas, University of Houston."

Coaches/Schools to recently attend one of his practices?

"LSU, BYU, TCU, Oklahoma, Texas..."

Not too long ago, the Texas A&M Maroon/White Game was something the Port Arthur Memorial tailback had on his agenda and he in fact made his way to College Station.

Offering up a few details on that event, Charles said, "It was good. I talked to the coaches and had a great time."

The 6-0, 190-pounder said he spoke with head coach Dennis Franchione, assistant head/wide receivers coach Kenith Pope and running backs coach Lee Fobbs.

"They said they run the ball a lot. That if I want to run the ball I can go there. And they said they have a really good school."

Thoughts on A&M?

"They were one of the first ones to come after me, they were the first school to offer."

Thoughts on Texas?

"I'm looking at them too. I went to one of their junior days. They haven't offered yet. Coach Brown said they haven't offered any running backs. They only have 13 scholarships to give."
