Post-game quotes from Dennis Franchione

Texas A&M Head Coach Dennis Franchione spoke to the media following the Aggies' dominating win over the Clemson Tigers on Saturday.

"I'm just really proud of our team – proud of the way they bounced back from that first game, and really proud of our coaching staff. It was a team effort, all the way across the board. Our defense: four turnovers, 250 yards. I think both the offensive and the defensive line have to get some credit tonight. We pressured the quarterback well, and we protected the quarterback pretty well this evening."

--------------------

"Third straight game without a turnover, and that's huge."

--------------------

"The crowd was awesome this evening. I'm sure it had an impact on their ability to function somewhat, and they did a great job for us. It was just a wonderful experience in that regard."

--------------------

"It is a big win. You beat a top 25 team at home and you get yourself to 2-1 going into open date and getting ready for Big 12 play. We've got to go back to work tomorrow, and I think open date comes at a good time for us to get some things cleaned up and better. It was a big win. Any time you can knock off a top 25 time and do it convincingly like we did, I think is significant."

--------------------

On QB Reggie McNeal: "Very few mistakes tonight. He delivered the ball on the options that we ran. He threw the ball well. When they did put some pressure on him, he avoided it and turned it into a positive play. He overcame our coaching with his athletic ability … that was a joke, in case y'all didn't get it … I got him 14 for 26 for 178 yards and 343 yards of total offense. He's just such a different quarterback right now than he was last year. He's just more mature, more intelligent. And the things that we've talked about in leadership and maturity have shown in his junior year."

--------------------

On his trust in McNeal: "I have a lot of confidence in Reggie, and a lot of confidence he won't throw the ball into coverage many times. He puts us in the right play. I think early in the game he was fired up and excited, and he just settled down and got into his groove. When he gets into that he makes it easier to make decisions on offense because you have trust in him to make the right decisions on plays. Tonight there were some breakdowns, and he pulled the ball down and did a great job of turning what could've been a loss into a positive."

--------------------

"They're playing more like we thought they would play, as coaches and as players. We're playing a lot of guys, and a lot of them are rising up. You've seen their confidence and mental side grow, sometimes right before your eyes. We're getting better, I know that. That was a major deal for us, was to improve. We've got some challenges ahead of us, we'll find out."
