Texas' Top Corner Has New Leader

<b>Alton Dixon, the highly touted Lufkin safety/cornerback, has a new leader. He talks about that, who sits right behind No. 1, and where he's headed this weekend…

"A&M is No. 1 and OU is No. 2," said Alton Dixon on the front-runners for nailing down his verbal commitment. "A&M is the one I'm leaning toward, Oklahoma is second, but I think Texas A&M may be the place for me."

Chalk it up to TAMU head coach Dennis Franchione and safeties coach Melvin Smith. Dixon said he's had some great conversations with them and that he really likes A&M.

Aggie fans will not have to wait till next season to see the Texas Hot 100 No. 21 down on the Brazos, Dixon will attend their game against Kansas State this weekend with cousin McKinner Dixon and (former A&M commit) Jorvorskie Lane.

Any chance the Aggies seal the deal this weekend?

"Maybe," said Dixon, "My decision on a school is coming soon."

Current defensive stats: Lufkin is 4-0, with Dixon recording 24 total tackles.
