Michael Bennett Pulls Commitment Trigger

Former Alief Taylor stud Michael Bennett -- who sat out a semester so he could enroll in the spring of '05 -- opted to end the suspense in favor of Texas A&M. We caught up with him to get the details...

"It just seems like a great place for me," said Michael Bennett regarding his decision to commit to Texas A&M. "They have great coaches and it's close to home."

The 6-4, 248-pound OLB/DE prospect said he phoned in his verbal to Aggie head man Dennis Franchione...

"I just told him that I wanted to come to A&M," Bennett said. "He was happy."

The Bayou City athlete claimed offers, in alphabetical order, from: "Arizona, Baylor, Cal, Colorado, Kansas, K-State, Missouri, UCLA, Washington State, Wisconsin."

His official visit to College Station is set for December 3-5. He has one last official visit scheduled the following week (December 10-12) to check out Cal...

"Coach Jeff Tedford is going to make an in-home still and so I think I might go ahead and take my last scheduled official visit."

Asked if he thought he'd be an Aggie in the end, Bennett said, "Yeah, I think so."

Bennett, who is expected to play either outside linebacker or defensive end for the Maroon/White, gives Texas A&M a nice Holiday Weekend Pick-Up!
