Chevar Bryson Chooses Maroon/ White

Midland Lee FS Chevar Bryson pulled the commitment trigger in favor of Texas A&M this past week and we caught up with him to get the details.

"Coach Thurmond called me up and asked me if was ready to be an Aggie," Chevar Bryson told Scout.com. "And I said, 'Yeah'. He said that they were offering me a full ride. He said they had 18 commitments and wanted to get 22 and that the sooner the better, so I jumped on it."

Bryson, who was flying a bit under the radar, put on a very nice camp performance over the summer that we attended and immediately landed on our Texas Hot 100 list. Currently rated No. 60 on the Texas Hot 100, he's a three-star commitment that brings a lot of speed (4.38 forty-time) and talent to the Aggie secondary.

We project the 5-11, 185-pounder to play cornerback first, free safety second. And, you might see him trying out for kick and punt return action as well.

With Midland Lee QB and teammate Jamie McCoy also in the A&M fold, making the decision to become an Aggie was an easy one for the West Texas prep.

"Well our quarterback (McCoy) is going there and I thought it would be fun to go to the same school with him. And, A&M has been recruiting me ever since the spring. I liked all the coaches when I went up there over the summer and liked the whole atmosphere."

Bryson will take his official visit to College Station this weekend (12/3) and will follow that up with one more official visit to Baylor (12/10).

Senior Season State: 80-90 tackles, 4 INTs, 3 or 4 returns for TDs.

Track: 10.35/10.4 100-meter time (hand-held), 24'4 long jump, 47'9 triple jump.
