"I think (Marcus) wants to make a decision the first of January," Mr. Jones said.
Asked if A&M led for his son's Signing Day signature, he said, "He's strongly favoring one way and he talked to their coaches today (Friday). But he'll make a decision January 1st."
We also caught up with 6-4, 210, QB Marcus, who was "a little under the weather" briefly...
Dean: You're down to two teams, Duke and Texas A&M.
Marcus Jones: Yes.
Dean: Everyone is saying that you're leaning to A&M.
Marcus Jones: Yes, I'm kind of leaning there.
Dean: Thoughts on A&M?
Marcus Jones: Pretty much, I just feel like it's a good place, good program, great college town, with a good coaching staff, good depth and good players.
Dean: Thought on Duke and what has them vying for his commitment?
Marcus Jones: Well, it's close to home. And I like their coaching staff also, the players. Mainly, it's close to home and that I can go in there with a chance to play early.
Some have said that the commitment of Vince Oghobaase to the Blue Devils could, in some way, impact the decision of the Southeast Whitfield County QB, especially considering that they made their official trip to Durham the same weekend (12/3).
"I'll let ya know..."
This one could go either way, but the Maroon and White still hold the edge. However, with him pushing his decision and announcement to New Year's Day, the Duke faithful are keeping the faith.
Scout.com will check back in Jan. 1, if not before…
