Michael Goodson: State's Early No. 1 Chooses A&M

Klein Collins RB Michael Goodson, who we're currently listing at 6-0, 195 pounds, with 4.48-forty speed, is the early lock for the Scout.com Preseason Texas Top 100 No. 1 (releasing in late-April). If you haven't seen this kid's video, make sure you do. It's earned him the nickname Michael Good-God. Recently tripping to the A&M spring game, kid was blown away and committed to the Aggies over several other suitors.

Klein Collins head coach Ronny Feldman said the A&M coaches called to tell him his thoroughbred with 40+ offers gave the Maroon/White a verbal commitment. Feldman also told Scout.com that he'd have a chance to talk to Michael Goodson and his father tomorrow about the early pledge given to the Aggies, but had yet to speak with Goodson at this point.

"One of the coaches for A&M called and said he committed," Feldman said.

Some are wondering how firm his commitment might be considering an atmosphere/environment holding a Maroon/White clad crowd of 40,000 can and has been known to blow a high school kid away.

"Well, I've been around this sort of a thing as a high school coach and college coach for almost thirty years, and without having a chance to talk to him yet, it could be a case where he was overwhelmed," Feldman explained. "You know, for a high school kid whose never been to something like that you could see him committing only to wake up tomorrow feeling different about it (ending the suspense). It's kind of like talking to a car salesman about buying a car, shaking his hand, and telling him that you'll be back tomorrow to get it."

"I will say this though, this was the second time he's been to A&M," Feldman continued, "And, if he made a commitment to A&M, which it appears that he did, then he needs to stick to that. And, then, tell the other schools to quit calling."

"Now... I'll have a chance to talk to him and his father tomorrow and I'll know more then," Feldman added.

The Klein Collins head man went onto say that college coaches who have been in touch and reviewed Goodson's film have all said he is one of the top three running backs in the country. He also said a good portion of those are saying that they've seen backs from the east to west coasts and that he is their No. 1 (target at running back).

Also per Feldman, Goodson is holding 40-something official offers, which would be the most I've heard of with respect to any other Lone Star State prospect as having at this stage of the game...

What has Scout.com raving about the 6-0, 195-pounder?

Kid's electric, incredibly fast, has great size, great hands, great lamps (vision), and that special acceleration/explosion speed only a handful of kids have. He's as fast with a helmet, shoulder pads and football in his hand, as he is running in shorts. And, not sure you're going to find another back in Texas who has faced the level of comp this kid has, save maybe Longview RB Vondrell McGee. But what I dig the most about Goodson's game is when this kid takes off, kid is GONE...

JR Season Stats: 101 carries, 1,152 yards (11.5 yards-per-carry), 14 TDs; 11 receptions, 277 yards (25 yards-per-grab), 5 TDs.
