"The offers I have right now are Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Arkansas, Arkansas State, Kansas State, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt," Burns said. "Florida, Ohio State, Michigan, USC and Alabama are some of the other really big programs that are recruiting me real hard."
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Burns was named first team all-state as a sophomore and second team all-state as a junior.
"Right now I am really open to everyone," Burns said. "I don't have a top five or anything, any school that has offered me, I am looking at. Arkansas was the first school to offer, but I haven't been anywhere to check out any schools yet."
As a junior Burns accounted for 31 touchdowns by completing 134-of-277 passing for 2,182 yards and 20 touchdowns and rushing for 965 yards and another 11 scores.
He was 129-of-228 for 1,935 yards and 21 touchdowns while rushing for 881 yards and five more scores as a sophomore.
"I have some schools that I want to check out," Burns said. "I am probably going to take things slow and take my official visits before I decide anything. I probably won't make a decision until after the season."
