Aggies Hosting Baseball Regional

The Texas Aggie baseball team was rewarded today for a 43-16 season and a high RPI rating when the NCAA announced that the Aggies will host the first round of regionals next weekend

Texas A&M has been rewarded for its' outstanding baseball season with an NCAA regional host spot. The announcement was made early this afternoon on ESPN, who will also televise the release of the entire field at 11:30 AM tomorrow.

The Big 12 conference has two other host teams, Texas and Missouri. Texas will likely be announced as a national seed tomorrow, while the Tigers and Aggies are destined to be standard No. 1 seeds. A win today in the Big 12 Championship Game could give the Aggies an outside shot at a national seed, but the committee will have to overlook A&M's 13-13 regular season conference record.

A&M is currently playing in the Big 12 Championship game against Baylor, tangling in a game that will have minimal bearing on tomorrow's field. Both the Aggies and Bears are safely in the field of 64 and their seeding is unlikely to be impacted by the results of the day.

Aggie Websider will have more thoughts and reactions to both the regional host sites and Big 12 tournament championship game this evening. Stay tuned to The Tailgate for the latest in Aggie Baseball news, both today and throughout the Road to Omaha.
