Dorsey ready for 2007

Tyler defensive lineman Adren Dorsey is ready for the 2007 season to get started, but when does he plan on making a decision about which college he'll attend? Dorsey talks to Aggie Websider's David Sandhop about where the Aggies stand in his recruiting process.

Tyler (TX) defensive lineman Adren Dorsey and his John Tyler Lion teammates are in full practice mode and trying to get prepared for the 2007 season while battling the hot Texas sun. The 6-foot-4, 285-pound lineman likes what he sees so far on the field and is optimistic about the upcoming season.

"Things are going good so far. We'll be very good on defense that's for sure," Dorsey said. "We're working out some kinks and smoothing some rough edges, but I like what I'm seeing."

Dorsey also feels he's having a good preseason and is ready for a productive senior campaign.

"I'm doing pretty well. I'm healthy and I feel I've gotten stronger from last year," Dorsey said. "I'm looking forward to getting on the field against Texas High (September 1)."

Dorsey spent a portion of his summer working through the recruiting process and attending camps, most notably the Game Night Elite Camp at Texas A&M where he put on a show. The Aggies along with Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and others were already recruiting the Tyler product hard. After the event, Dorsey indicated that he was leaning toward Texas A&M but wanted to wait on a decision and see a few more schools at the request of his mother.

Has anything changed for Doresy on the recruit front in the past month?

"Nothing really that important. I'm hearing from USC, and Texas offered earlier," Dorsey said. "I'm just taking it easy and focusing on my season right now. A&M is right there at the top, but I really wouldn't say I have a leader or anything like that."

Dorsey's relatives include the legendary Tyler Rose, Earl Campbell, and recent Longhorn defensive end Tim Crowder. Will that play a factor in his recruiting now that Texas may recruit Dorsey in the fall?

"I grew up following Texas and kept up with them, but I wouldn't say I was a big fan in that way," Dorsey said. "Yeah, I'm familiar with Texas, but being related to those guys won't affect my decision at all."

Dorsey says he's not in a big hurry to make a decision and would like to take a couple of visits in the fall if time allows for it.

"I'd like to take a couple of visits in the fall and check out some games," Dorsey said. "I haven't set anything up, but I'd like to do that. It will depend on my schedule and if I can get away after my game."

For now, Dorsey does not have a timetable for a decision and wants to focus on his senior year.
