No 23 Texas A&M survived 2nd half comeback by Fresno State to emerge with a marathon triple overtime 47-45 victory in front of an Aggie partisan Kyle Field crowd of 75,922 on Saturday afternoon in College Station. Jorvorskie Lane rushed for 121 yards, 4 touchdowns, and the game winning 2-point conversion in the third overtime to lead the Aggies.

The Aggies led 19-0 at halftime but Fresno State came back to tie the game at 22-22 early in the fourth quarter. After Texas A&M marched 88 yards to take a 29-22 lead, Fresno State responded by scoring a touchdown with five seconds left on the clock, tying the game 29-29 and sending the game into overtime.
It took three overtimes before the Aggies stopped Fresno St on an attempted two-point conversion to preserve a hard fought 47-45 win.
Fresno St received the opening kickoff and drove top the Aggie 42-yard line before being forced to punt. The Aggies drove 80 yards on 12 play on their opening possession, with Jorvorskie Lane rumbling 18 yards for a touchdown. The extra point by Matt Szymanski gave A&M a 7-0 lead at 8:08 in the first quarter.
Fresno St's next possession ended with an interception by Aggie defensive back Devin Gregg at the Fresno St 41-yard line. When the Aggie drive stalled at the Fresno St 26-yard line, Matt Szymanski missed a 43-yard field goal attempt wide right.
After a Fresno St punt, the Aggies drove to the Fresno St 24-yard line, before again being forced to attempt a field goal. This time, the 41-yard field goal attempt by Matt Szymanski was blocked by Fresno St.
Fresno St drove to the Aggie 31-yard line before Fresno St kicker Clint Stitser missed a 48-yard field goal wide left.
The Aggies drove to the Fresno St 26-yard line before having to settle for a 43-yard Matt Szymanski field goal, to give A&M a 10-0 lead at 4:31 in the second quarter.
Fresno St fumbled the ensuing kickoff and Aggie cornerback Jordan Peterson recovered the fumble at the Fresno St 37-yard line. After three Stephen McGee rushes totalling 25 yards, McGee tossed a 12-yard touchdown pass to Michael Goodson. Szymanki's extra point gave the Aggies a 17-0 lead with 2:14 left in the half.
Fresno St quarterback Tom Brandstater was sacked in the endzone by Aggie defensive tackle Red Bryant and called for intentional grounding for a safety to extend the Aggie lead to 19-0. After an Aggie punt, Fresno St drove to the Aggie 30-yard line before missing a 47-yard field goal attempt wide left as the first half clock expired.

The Aggies received the opening kickoff of the second half. After picking up one first down, Stephen McGee was sacked and fumbled. Fresno St safety Todd Chisom recovered McGee's fumble at the Aggie 32-yard line. Facing 3rd and 8 at the 16-yard line, Fresno St quarterback Tom Brandstater threw a touchdown strike to tight end Bear Pascoe. Stitser's extra point made the score 19-7 at 11:37 in the third quarter.
After an Aggie punt, Fresno St quarterback Tom Brandstater completed a pass to running back Clifton Smith, but Aggie linebacker Misi Tupe forced Smith to fumble and the fumble was recovered by Aggie defensive tackle Lucas Patterson at the Fresno St 30-yard line. When the Aggie drive stalled at the 15-yard line, Matt Szymanski kicked a 32-yard field goal to give the Aggies a 22-7 lead at 7:19 in the third quarter.
On their ensuing possession, Fresno St drove 80 yards in 9 plays and Fresno St freshman running back Ryan Mathews scored a touchdown on a 10-yard run. Stitser's extra point cut the Aggie lead to 22-14 with 3:06 left in the third quarter.
After forcing the Aggies to punt, Fresno St marched 56 yards in in 7 plays with feshman running back Anthony Harding scoring on a 2-yard run. Fresno St went for two and Tom Brandstater connected with Seyi Ajirotutu for the two-point conversion to tie the game 22-22 with 11:53 left in the fourth quarter.
Texas A&M and Fresno St exchanged punts, and A&M started their possession at their 12-yard line with 6:36 left in the 4th quarter. The Aggies methodically marched 88 yards in 10 plays consuming 4:44, and Jorvorskie Lane bulled through Fresno St on a 5-yard touchdown run. Szymanski's extra point gave the Aggies a 29-22 lead with 1:52 left in the 4th quarter.
Facing 3rd and 8 from their 36-yard line, Tom Brandstater completed a 44-yard pass to freshman receiver Devon Wylie. Brandstater completed a 17-yard pass to tight end Bear Pascoe to give Fresno St a 1st and goal at the Aggie 3-yard line with 25 seconds left in the 4th quarter. After 3 incompletions, facing 4th and goal with 10 seconds on the clock, Tom Brandstater connected with Bear Pascoe in the back of the endzone for a touchdown. Stitser's extra point tied the game 29-29. The 4th quarter clock expired as the Aggies returned the Fresno St quarterback, sending the game into overtime.
The Aggies were the first to go on offense in overtime. After Stephen McGee picked up one first down on a 12-yard keeper, a 3rd down pass attempt from McGee to Pierre Brown fell incomplete. Matt Szymanski kicked a 27-yard field goal to give the Aggies a 32-29 lead.
On Fresno St's first offensive play in overtime, Tom Brandstater completed a 24-yard pass to Marlon Moore. After a lengthy review, Moore was ruled to have fumbled the ball at the 1-yard line through the end zone. On the play, Aggie defensive tackle Henry Smith was called for roughing the passer. The net result of the play was Fresno St moved half the distance to the goal on the roughing the passer penalty but retained possession.
After three rushing attempts, Fresno St was forced to settle for a 25-yard field goal attempt. Clint Stitser connected on the field goal to tie the game 32-32 at the end of the first overtime.
In the second overtime, Fresno St was the first to go on offense. After a 3 yard loss and 12-yard pass completion, Fresno St used 6 rushing attempts to drive 16 yards, with Anthony Harding diving over from the 1-yard line for a touchdown. Stitser's extra point gave Fresno St a 39-32 lead.
It was then the Aggies turn to go on offsense in the second overtime. After the Aggies picked up 5 yards on two rushes by Michael Goodson, Stephen McGee rushed 12 yards giving A&M a 1st and goal at the 8-yard line. Jorvorskie Lane rushed twice moving the ball to the 2-yard line. Facing 3rd and goal at the 2-yard line, Lane crashed over the goal line for the score. Szymanski's extra point tied the game 39-39 at the end of the 2nd overtime.
In the third overtime, it was the Aggies' turn to go on offense first. Facing 3rd and 7 from the 22-yard line, Stephen McGee rushed 8 yards to give the Aggies a critical first down. The Aggies again turned to Jorvorskie Lane. Lane rushed for 6, 3, 2, and then the final 3 yards to score for the Aggies. In the thrid overtime, teams are forced to go for two. Once again it was Jorvorskie Lane who got the call and bulled 3 yards for the two-point conversion, giving the Aggies 47-39 lead.

Fresno St was faced with scoring a touchdown and two-point conversion to keep the game alive. After picking up one first down, Fresno St quarterback Tom Brandstater threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to tight end Bear Pascoe. On the two-point conversion attempt, Tom Brandstater's pass atempt was knocked away from the Fresno St receiver by Aggie defensive back Devin Gregg, sealing a 47-45 triple overtime win by the Aggies.
For the second straight week, the Aggies were outgained on offense, with with Fresno St edgeing the Aggies 399 to 397 total yards. A&M edged Fresno St in forst downs, 24 to 23. The Aggies had an impressive 319 yards rushing but a disappoint 79 yards passing.
For the game, Jorvorskie Lane rushed for 121 yards and 4 TDs on 23 carries, caught one pass for 8 yards, and scored the game winning 2-point conversion in the third overtime to lead the Aggies. Stephen McGee rushed for 124 yards on 16 carries, and completed 13 of 24 passes for 79 yards and 1 TD. Mike Goodson rished for 69 yards on 23 carries. Tight end Martellus Bennett led the Aggie receivers with 5 receptions for 35 yards.
On defense, linebacker Mark Dodge once again led the Aggies in tackles with 16 (4 solo, 12 assists). Fellow linebacker Misi Tupe recorded 12 tackles. Defensive backs Danny Gorrer and Jordan Pugh had 11 and 9 tackles, respectively. Defensive linemen Michael Bennett and Red Bryant each had 7 tackles, while Chris Harrington and Kellen Heard each had 6 tackles.
For Fresno St, Tom Brandstater completed 21 of 31 passes for 260 yards and 3 TDs. Tight end Bear Pascoe led the Fresno St receivers with 7 receptions for 70 yards and 3 TDs. Marlon Moore, Clifton Smith., and Jason Crawley each caught 4 passes. On defense, Ben Jacobs recorded 16 tackles, Marcus Riley 15 tackles, and Quaadir Brown 14 tackles.
Texas A&M remains undefeated with a record of 2-0, and next Saturday hosts Louisiana-Monroe. Louisiana-Monroe (0-2) lost on Saturday to Number 25 ranked Clemson 49-26, after losing their first game against Tulsa 35-17.
