Franchione visits with Big 12 media

After watching the tape, what does Franchione think about the incomplete pass call that may have cost the Aggies a win on Saturday night? Is he worried that his comments about Oklahoma this summer may give the Sooners more motivation this weekend? Aggie Websider has the latest from Franchione, who spoke at this morning's Big 12 Conference teleconference.

ON KANSAS STOPPING RUNNING GAME--WAS IT MORE A MATTER OF WHAT THEY DID? OR WHAT YOU DIDN'T DO?
You've got to give their defense credit. They were highly ranked and did very well. I don' tthink they've given up 100 yards rushing to a Big 12 team yet. They deserve a lot of credit but you always feel like you could do better.

HOW FRUSTRATING WAS THAT GAME?
Anytime you're in a game like that, it's going to have its frustrations.

AFTER WATCHING TAPE, WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE INCOMPLETE PASS CALL (WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN A FUMBLE RETURNED FOR AN A&M TOUCHDOWN).
It was definitely a throw, the ball went backwards, whether it was intended to be a backwards pass or not, I don't know. The official said it's always ruled a forward pass.

WITH ALL THE UPS AND DOWNS, YOU STILL HAVE A CHANCE IN THE SOUTH. WHAT'S YOUR MESSAGE TO THE TEAM
It's an up and down year in this sport all across the nation. The important thing to do is to keep playing because you don't know. Every week is different and there are still three important games in this season.

I'VE READ SEVERAL COMMENTS FROM MCGEE ABOUT WHAT YOU MEAN TO HIM. WHAT DOES HE MEAN TO YOU?
It's really fun as a coach to coach a guy like (McGee) who is committed to his team and doing whatever it takes to win the football game. So intelligent, competitive, talented, and such a fine person. There are so many great ingredients about the young man that every day is a blessing to go to practice.

HE'S TAKEN A BEATING AT TIMES, IS THE SEASON WEARING ON HIM PHYSICALLY OR MENTALLY?
It doesn't seem to be. He seemed to have more fun at practice last week than any week yet. He enjoys playing the game, I wish he would take a few less hits, but that's not the way he's going to play.

A LOT HAS BEEN SAID ABOUT THE COMMENT YOU MADE ABOUT OU BACK IN AUGUST, DO YOU WORRY ABOUT IT IN NORMAN THIS WEEKEND?
I don't think Oklahoma needs that. Again, that was a light-hearted comment with a bunch of Aggies in the room. I feel bad about it, it's not my style and I have great respect for Oklahoma and they're a great program. They've got a lot to play for other than that.

MARTELLUS HAD A REALLY BIG 4TH QUARTER - WHAT HAS HE MEANT TO YOUR PROGRAM?
Tight end has been a real solid position for us with him and Joey Thomas. The ability for him to make some of the plays he made last week is pretty phenomenal. He's big enough, he's a force in so many different ways, whether it's blocking or route running. It's good to get him back healthy again.
