COACH'S CORNER: 2010 QB Conner Wood

He's only going to be a junior this season, but Conner Wood's high school coach is already calling him the best quarterback he's ever been around. Aggie Websider visits with Second Baptist coach Jon Guthrie about his signal caller.

WHAT MAKES HIM SUCH A SPECIAL TALENT?
He has a great arm, great vision and one of the quickest releases I've ever seen from a high school kid. I've coached for 36 years and I've never been around a quarterback as good as this one. He's an outstanding leader on and off the field and he's also one of the hardest workers on the team

TALK ABOUT HIS COACHABILITY
He always wants to watch film. He's probably his own worst critic sometimes. He doesn't take for granted that he has the ability, he knows he has to grow some more. I have to keep remembering that he's only 16 years old and when you're 16 years old, the world is still kind of new to you.

HOW DO HIS TEAMMATES RESPOND TO HIM?
He was the first sophomore to be elected captain in my career last year, that pretty much tells me what they think about him. He rallies the guys around him. He knows when to pat them on the back and when to push the pedal and get the most out of them.

WHAT IS SOMETHING MOST PEOPLE DON'T KNOW ABOUT HIM?
He's able to flat footed jump up and dunk a basketball goal

WHAT KIND OF FUTURE DO YOU SEE FOR CONNER?
He's going to have a great career at Second the next two years and he's going to be a viable player in division I football in the near future. He's a Big 12/SEC kind of guy, no doubt.
