Mike Sherman is already looking ahead to the 2011 recruiting class and today he started off his 2011 campaign in great fashion. Joseph Cheek, 6-7 250 pound,OT out of Seguin Texas received a verbal offer from A&M and he took little time to verbally commit to Texas A&M today.

"Me and Coach Sherman talked at the camp and they told me they have been looking at my film a lot. They told me they intended to extend me an offer on September 1st. I called up Coach Sherman and verbally committed a few hours ago. I told him I wanted to be an Aggie. I am extremely excited about being apart of what Coach Sherman is putting together at A&M"

Cheek, the son of former Texas A&M offensive lineman Louis Cheek, has always had his eye on A&M.

"I wanted to go to A&M for all the right reasons. I really connected with Coach Turner and Van Malone. My decision really had nothing to do with my dad playing here. He wanted me to go wherever I wanted to go."

Joseph wants his early verbal commitment to set the tone for his class.

" I want to set the tone for my class and show recruits that Texas A&M is a place that will win championships in the very near future."

Cheeks has no intention to look at other schools. He is firm with his verbal commitment.

"I am 100% sure with my decision to play football at Texas A&M."
