P.L. Lindley: One to watch in 2011

After reaching the semifinals in his first year on varsity with Stony Point and winning state in 7 on 7, linebacker P.L. Lindley is looking to repeat his success as a junior.

"Our goal is obviously to win state and we have the talent to do it. Personally, I'd like to get my stats up. Interceptions, fumble recoveries, tackles, and even touchdowns. I'll be playing strong side outside linebacker this year and am expecting a lot. I'm already 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds"

While his goals may seen excessively lofty to most onlookers, that is not the case here as Stony Point is one of the most talented teams in the state. P.L. will play behind one of the states best junior defensive tackles in Jordan Wade and Texas Tech-bound senior safety Desmond Martin, while juniors Aaron Sharp and Stephen Williams create one of the states most explosive offenses.

P.L. recently took a visit and gave it high praise, "I visited SMU earlier today. They most discussed a lot of academic things, took me around the campus, I have a verbal offer from them and wanted to make sure I got them a visit."

While P.L. has SMU as an early offer, several other schools have caught his eye as well. "Right now I'm digging Baylor, UT, LSU, Ole Miss, Utah, and I really liked Texas A&M while we were there for the tournament. It's a nice school and I loved Kyle Field."

As previously stated, Stony Point won last weekend's state 7 on 7 tournament for large schools (4A and 5A). Lindley covered several big time receivers and didn't back down. "We won state, it was pretty good. Terrell was the hardest kid I had to cover all day."
