On Monday night at the Travis County Exposition Center, Texas A&M head football Coach Mike Sherman took the stage in front of several thousand Aggies, both alumni, current, and future. As the many fans in attendance ate their bbq, Sherman was at the podium giving reasons to be excited about the future of Aggie football. In guaranteeing A&M's imminent rise to the top, Sherman stressed several items of significant importance, most importantly, the establishment of a solid foundation, recruiting "the right guys", and creating a synergy in the locker room, one of loyalty, trust and respect.

But before delving too heavily into football, Sherman humored his audience with a ten minute slideshow on why he lost weight in the off season, citing reasons such as "I wanted to tuck my shirt in this season", "Bill Byrne wouldn't expand the jumbotron to fit my entire body" and his unwavering dedication to fit into his speedo once more.

Sherman, 54, was adamant in his stance that A&M football is on the up slope and will be a champion real soon. He did his best to ensure that Aggie fans were "in the boat" with him, an obvious metaphor for buying into his system.

Items of significance:

1.Sherman claims A&M could sign "up to five players in Louisiana this year". With four commitments, this one was somewhat of a baffler, but it is expected that he was referring to Alfred Blue of Boute, Louisiana.
2.KJ Williams to defensive end this season.
3.Dedication to a better pass rush this season, through the use of Von Miller in the jack position and more athleticism throughout the front 7.
4.Junior College player of the year cornerback Coryell Judie is this year's punt return man.
5.Kalvin Guyton will play.
6.Steven Barrera at right tackle, Scales at left tackle. Both showing really good things in the summer.
7.Season goals are progress, leadership, and the continuation of the building of a solid foundation.
