If the Aggies are looking for speed at the defensive back position in 2011 they won't have to look far. Sheroid Evans (Dulles HS) is a duel threat, playing football in the fall and a standout track runner in the spring. Evans will likely become a priority target for the Ags in next year's recruiting class. The 6'2'', 180 pound cornerback had 6 tackles and 2 forced fumbles in the first half of play last weekend on the road against Willowridge HS before going down with cramps because of dehydration.

" I had a big first half but I didn't drink enough water or fluids and I started to cramp up really bad."

"I had two big hits on both forced fumbles. The first one was on a punt return where I busted through the wall and got my helmet on the ball and it popped out. The second one was on a screen play, I came on a blitz and was able to strip the ball loose."

Texas A&M safeties coach and Houston area recruiter was out scouting Evans this past week.

"I called Coach Malone tonight actually. He explained to me how good of a school Texas A&M is and how they are the number one in engineering. He told me about their facilities and how he wants to come out and see me play again. Coach Malone and I had a great conversation and I can't wait to talk to him again. I wan't to come visit now."

At the moment Evans only has an offer from Baylor but he has been receiving many letters in the mail. Sheroid wants to play football and run track in college. This past summer he won first place in the 400M Hurdles at the Junior Olympics. Evans has interest in A&M, LSU, Texas, Baylor, and Texas Tech. "All of those programs have good football and track programs", said Evans.

Proximity to home and academics are a big factor for Evans. He has a extremely good relationship with his mother and wants her to be able to see him play every Saturday.

"A&M would be a good fit for me. I'm a bit of a mommas boy so I don't want to be far from home. I think she would like the family atmosphere up at A&M. I want to major in engineering. I would like to graduate early so I can make it in for spring ball wherever I go."

"Wherever I go I just want to play and work hard. Of course I want to win. Who doesn't want to win? I just want to come in and work hard everyday."

The next step for the Aggies is to get Evans on campus. Once they do that they will have a very good shot with Sheroid down the road and you can expect an offer to be handed out once that happens. Evans has 4.3 speed and will be a hot commodity for a number of elite schools in 2011.
