The Hiring Of Nguyen Impacts Wallace?

Skyline High School has been a hotbed for recruiting talent for years and the tradition continues with's 4-star linebacker Anthony Wallace. Wallace left Austin uncommitted and has Norman in his sights next weekend. Will he visit Aggieland on the 27th? What was Wallace's reaction to the hiring of Dat Nguyen? Websider's Taylor Hamm spoke to Anthony and has the answers.

Skyline High School has been a hotbed for recruiting talent for years and the tradition continues with's 4-star linebacker Anthony Wallace. The 6'-2'' and 235 pound junior is a primary target for the Aggies in 2011 and Wallace is considering traveling to College Station on the 27th for the Aggie's junior day.

"I already visited Texas, so I might make it down that weekend. It's not for sure yet, I need to talk to my parents about it. It's mainly a matter of getting a ride down there."

Wallace recently picked up two huge offers from a couple of the country's top programs.

"It means I'm doing something right," said Wallace about receiving offers from Texas and USC.

One thing the A&M coaching staff stresses when they are recruiting a young student athlete is the importance of a family like environment. Wallace is looking for the same thing that A&M makes a top priority in their locker room.

"I want to go somewhere where there is a family atmosphere...I want to play when I am ready but I don't want to wait too long to play," said Wallace when asked what he is looking for when choosing a school.

Wallace's statement below about the importance of a position coach has an eerie familiarity to it, and it doesn't help that Wallace's teammate last year was Corey Nelson.

"I want to go somewhere that has a tradition of good linebackers coming out of their school so a lot of it will depend on the school's linebacker coach."

After hearing about Wallace's comments about the importance of a linebackers coach, he had this to say about the hiring of Dat Nguyen.

"Yea that is very interesting and I plan on looking into that a lot more. I followed Dat when he was at A&M and playing for the Cowboys. This could change how I view A&M"

Like most highly ranked recruits of Wallace's stature, he isn't ready to make a decision any time soon and is considering all schools that are interested in him.

"Yea right now it's wide open with my recruitment. I'm just focused on next season and I will worry about all of the recruiting stuff after. I don't have a time frame at the moment. I'll probably start looking into it more after the summer is over. "

Wallace has an interesting relationship with a current A&M signee and cross town rival.

"I know Ben Malena well. I get all the inside on A&M from him. He tells me all of the time that I need to come down and see the school. I like what he has to say about A&M."

Wallace and fellow Skyline teammate Franklin Shannon will be attending Oklahoma's junior day this weekend.
