OL Has UTSA In Top 3

Continuing to thoroughly evaluate prospects before handing out offers is the UTSA strategy for 2014. The staff is looking to add one or possibly two offensive lineman in this cycle. This prospect picked up a UTSA offer recently.

Of the eight confirmed offers so far in the 2014 recruiting, four of them have been to prospects in the Greater Houston area. Last week, Cole Anderson became the latest target to get offered.

The 6'5" 275lb lineman was somewhat surprised, but happy, that the coaching staff decided to extend him an offer.

"It caught me by surprise. They had been down Monday to see me workout but they hadn't really said anything to me," said Anderson.

The coaching staff is recruiting Anderson as a tackle. They like his size, frame and athleticism and feel he's got the skill to anchor the outside.

"I like to be physical and dominate the guy in front of me. I've gotten better at pass protection. My best attribute is being able to get out in space and create holes," said Anderson.

Texas State was the first program to offer Cole, then Air Force, UTSA, Rice and Houston followed suit. Michigan State, Oklahoma State, Arizona State, Indiana, Cal and Duke have also made contact.

For the moment Anderson doesn't anticipate making a decision until after the summer and quite possibly after the season.

So with five offers already and plenty more on the way, UTSA fans did get a vote of confidence for the interim.

"They're (UTSA) in my top 3, but I want to get the feel of my options." said Anderson.

As a junior, Anderson earned All County and did not allow a sack the entire year. He registered 52 pancake blocks as well. You don't need more proof of how physical he can be and he's only going to get bigger.
