Spring Tour: Whitehouse HS

With Defensive Coordinator Neal Neathery and Cornerbacks Coach Jeff Popovich expected to stop by today, things could get very interesting for a couple of Wildcats. Two in particular just landed on the UTSA radar last week

Vincent Dunning RB 6'0" 200lbs 4.3

Dunning has flown under the radar since he missed most of the season due to knee and foot injuries. Recently, UTSA, Mississippi State, and Colorado State have been showing the strongest interest. The 'Runners are a fairly new program to Dunning, but he does like the spread formation that UTSA runs. It's very similar to his current offense.

"We do some of the same stuff on offense, I could fit in immediately. If they offered I'd probably be leaning towards a commitment. Go down there, check out the school and make my decision," said Dunning.

He is a bigger back, the type that UTSA has looked for in the past. With great speed, he can either run away from you or run you over. In just five games last season he rushed for 400 yards, gained an extra 200 receiving and had a total of 6 touchdowns.

Reggie Long LB 6'0" 222lbs 4.51

Long is being recruited as a linebacker. UTSA, Houston, Tennessee, Texas A&M, La. Tech and Tulsa are just a few of the schools in on his recruitment.

"I've talked to Defensive Coordinator Neal Neathery, they'll be in on Wednesday. My coach has been talking to them too. They're telling me that an offer is up in the air right now," said Long.

Long will be playing his third year on varsity this fall so he's accustomed to his role and embraces it. His leadership, accountability and responsibility as a senior leader shows mountains of maturity from a high schooler.

His frame and size for linebacker is what UTSA recruits for the position. His speed makes him a very appealing prospect as he can run with most running backs and wide receivers in coverage situations.

Houston is the program that is standing out a bit. The Cougs were the first program to really start recruiting him.
