Hoops Team To Play Big XII Foe

In what will undoubtedly be a tough transition in talent and competition to C-USA, Head Coach Brooks Thompson and his staff have agreed to play a Big XII road game that will add to an even tougher slate.

IRS has learned that UTSA has agreed to travel to the Plains of West of Texas in a non-conference match-up against first year Texas Tech Head Coach Tubby Smith and his Red Raiders.

An agreement for a one and done is in place and a finalized contract is expected as the season draws near. The game is slotted to take place sometime after the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Just as UTSA is transitioning into C-USA, the Red Raiders are changing gears with a new coach and a roster full of new faces. Such is the case when a coaching change takes place.

We are hearing that because of what will be a tough and competitive conference schedule with the likes of Tulsa, Southern Miss, Middle Tennessee State, La. Tech and others, the Red Raiders should be the marquis non-conference match-up for the 'Runners this season.

Although Tubby Smith brings a championship pedigree to Lubbock, wholesale changes and playing this early on in non-conference could make for a very intriguing match-up between Tech and UTSA.
