UTSA Races Past Tulsa, 34-15
- Tulsa, OK What a turnaround just a few weeks have made. Not that long ago, the ‘Runners were the team suffering turnovers and not getting any breaks. On Saturday in Tulsa, UTSA used three Golden Hunrrane first quarter touchdowns to earn their second Conference USA win on the road. UTSA improves to 4-5 overall and 3-2 in CUSA play. The first turnover came on a Triston Wade interception as Tulsa was moving into scoring position. After a few possessions, the UTSA offense drove down the field and QB Eric Soza found RB Evans Okotcha in the endzone for a 5 yard touchdown pass. After both teams went three and out, UTSA punted the ball deep into Tulsa territory. On the catch, punt returner Trey Watts fumbled the ball into the endzone. Safety Nic Johnston recovered the ball in the endzone for a touchdown. UTSA went up 14-0 at that point. Leading by two scores after the first quarter wasn't enough for the Roadrunners. After a Sean Ianno field goal that pushed the lead to 17-0 early in the second quarter, the Hard Hat Defense once again held Tulsa. On the next drive, WR Kam Jones rushed down the sideline setting a school record for longest rush, going 84 yards for a touchdown. The 'Runners went up 24-0. On the day, RB David Glasco rushed for 135 yards, a new program record. The UTSA Hard Hat Defense played tremendous, holding Tulsa scoreless nearly three full quarters. Safety Triston Wade had two interceptions, including one in the fourth quarter that he returned 82 yards for a touchdown to seal the victory. The win sets up a huge matchup vs West Division leading Tulane next Saturday in the Alamodome.
