2nd Half Dooms 'Runners

What's been the theme early on this season, a lack of offense, unfortunately continued on Thursday night at the Convo. UTSA fell to UTPA, 70-55.

The 1st half saw a bit of a spark from the 'Runners. Head Coach Brooks Thompson tinkered the line-up a bit, starting both point guards, Devon Agusi and Keon Lewis. The pair combined for 14 first half points and helped push the 'Runners to a 31-26 halftime lead.

Kaj-Bjorn Sherman was also a bright spot in the half, registering 6 pts, 7 rebs and 2 blks. UTSA shot a respectable 42% from the floor while holding the Broncs to 30%.

The 2nd half was a complete reversal. UTPA couldn't miss from the field. On the stength of a 16-2 run to start, the 'Runners were put on their heels and couldn't respond. The Broncs torched the nets at a 65% clip and went 4 of 7 from deep. For the game the Broncs finished with 8 3-ptrs to UTSA's 4 treys. The glass was owned by UTPA 19-5 in the 2nd half and 39 to 22 for the game.

UTSA cut the deficit to 8 points near the 5 minute mark but wouldn't pull any closer. Keon Lewis would lead three 'Runners in double digits. He finished with 16 pts on the strength of 9 of 11 free throw shooting. Jordan Sims and Devon Agusi both finished with 10 each.

Now the 'Runners (0-4) turn to Texas A&M Corpus Christi who will travel to the Convo for a 2:30pm afternoon tip on Saturday afternoon. UTSA is still looking for it's first win on the season.
