DE Offered

This DFW area defensive end caught the eye of staff recently and picked up a scholarship offer.

Xavier Washington, 6'2" 240lb defensive end from Cedar Hill, confirms to IRS that UTSA offered him a scholarship last week.

"I wasn't expecting the offer. I was surprised," said Washington.

With 4.79-40 speed, UTSA is actively perusing Washington as one of their handful of remaining targets.

"They saw one of my games and they like the way I play the edge as defensive end," said Washington.

Washington currently holds offers seven offers ,most noteably from Houston, Navy, UNT, Nevada, Air Force, UTSA, and Yale.

Washington has a visit set up for UH on Jan 17 with a possible UNT visit on Jan 24. Somewhere in between, he is trying to schedule a midweek visit to UTSA.

"I don't have any favorites right now," said Washington. "Once I start taking visits I'll start narrowing it down. I don't want to wait until signing day, after my visit I'll decide."

As far as UTSA, they are certainly in the mix for landing Washington.

"I know that they're starting to win more and play better competition," Washington said of UTSA. "I like the fact that UTSA can win. There's no telling what UTSA can do. It's an option I'm considering."

Washington, who was select First Team All State on Thursday, and the rest of his Cedar Hill teammates play Katy on Saturday for the 5A Division II State Championship.
