Commit #1 WR Furquan Shorts
Shorts is coming off his track season that saw him make it all of the way to the state regionals in the 100 meter open and the 4x100.
"I ran track so I can get bigger, stronger, and faster," said Shorts. "I'm just trying to get ready so we can have a good season."
Atascocitsa just began spring practices last week and there have been a laundry list of schools who have already visited.
"A lot of schools have come by," said Shorts. "UCONN, Lamar, Texas, Kansas, LSU, North Texas, a lot of schools.
Shorts condsiders himself committed to UTSA but he is still being looked at by other schools.
"I'm committed to UTSA," said Shorts. "But a lot of schools are talking about offers. Utah and U of H were talking about offering and LSU may offer at camp so it's just a matter of time."
Houston and LSU (where Shorts is originally from) may be the biggest schools to keep an eye on. Shorts anticipates camping at LSU over the summer and may visit Houston as early as next weekend.
UTSA is scheduled to visit Atascocita on Monday and Shorts has been keeping an eye on what UTSA has been doing.
"They're recruiting is going well. The 2015 class should be very strong," said Shorts.
Commit #3 WR Tre Hamilton
Hamilton and the rest of his teammates are in full preparation for his 2014 senior season.
"We started last Monday. It's going really good, there's a little adjustment with Greg (Campbell) leaving but we should be ok," said Hamilton.
While Hamilton has seen the number of schools visiting their practice last week, there is only one other school that has shown interest in him.
"LSU said they want to get me to campus," said Hamilton. "They're really the only one who has showed interest. I think I might go to one of their camps in the summer just for the experience."
How well UTSA's 2015 recruiting class has started has not been lost on Hamilton.
"Things are going real well for UTSA, they've got a lot of good recruits. I like how the receiving corps is looking," said Hamilton.
In fact, Hamilton says he's still excited to be a Roadrunner.
"I like the coaches," said Hamilton. "I like the new WR coach, I talked to him a couple of weeks ago and he said if I came in and worked hard that I could have the opportunity for some early playing time. I'm just anxious to get there and start working."
Hamilton was suppose to go to the spring game but had a personal conflict that kept him from attending. He is anticipating camping at UTSA over the summer.
