4-Star Prospect To Visit

UTSA host will a Scout.com 4-star prospect on Thursday.

McAllen Memorial RB Trevor Speights, the #27th ranked RB in the nation and a Scout.com 4-star prospect, will be in San Antonio on Thursday for the UTSA vs Arizona game.

Speights' mother, Alanadra, confirmed to InsideRunnerSports the family would be a guest of UTSA's on Thursday.

Speights, a class of 2016 recruit, is a current commit to Arizona. But, UTSA has stayed in contact with Speights since he impressed coaches at a camp last summer.

The 5'10" 175 athlete is a pure speedster who has reported sub 4.4-40 times at various camps over the past year.

Speights holds three current offers: Arizona (where he is committed to), Rice, and Texas State.

It was reported elsewhere that Speights received a UTSA offer in the summer of 2013. However, InsideRunnerSports confirmed that Speights was not targeted by UTSA.

Regardless, the Roadrunners are still very much on Speights' radar. But so are some other programs. Other schools showing interest include: Auburn, California, Florida State, Oklahoma, TCU, New Mexico, Kansas State, Oregon, Nebraska, UCLA, Oklahoma State, Arkansas, Notre Dame, Texas and others.

And while Speights remains committed to Arizona, he is still very much looking around and visiting other schools.

“Coaches really like my speed, footwork and vision.,” Speights told Scout.com recently. “All the camps I went to (over the summer), I expect an offer. Most of them want to see me this upcoming season."

Speights committed to Arizona back in March following an official visit. A major factor in him committing to the Wildcats was the fact that his best friend, 5-star QB Shea Patterson, had also committed to Arizona's 2016 recruiting class.

But about a month ago, Patterson de-committed from Arizona. Patterson, who's brother was on staff at Arizona and has since taken a job at LSU, has now become the consensus #1 QB in the 2016 class. He's received numerous major offers.

Whether Patterson's de-commitment will affect Speights in any way still remains to be seen. But what it is certain is that UTSA will get an opportunity to host Speights on Thursday.
