9.9.14 Practice Report

UTSA Head Coach Larry Coker addressed media following Tuesday mornings practice on campus.

UTSA Head Coach Larry Coker

Opening Statement
"This is just a regular Tuesday practice for us. We're kind of back to a normal routine. We got our conditioning in. We've got to get our edge for Saturday. That's going to be a tremendous challenge for us. Our kids are excited about playing. We're going to compete."

On Practicing with Crowd Noise
"We do that every week when we're on the road. It will be a hostile environment. Oklahoma State is kind of funny because the walls are close and the fans are on top of you. Crowd noise will be a factor. "

On Going Back to Oklahoma
"It's been a long time since I've been there. There's not that much sentimental value to me. It was great times, I was there 7 years. We had some great players. But it's mainly us against their team. I will have some family there."

Keys to Success vs Oklahoma State
"We've got to try to be sure an eliminate some big plays. We gave up some big plays last year and it kind of knocked us out of the game. Offensively we matched them pretty well. Defensively, we couldn't hang with them."

On the Oklahoma State QB Situation
"We're going to prepare the same way, I don't think they'll be a lot of difference. JW probably runs better than the other young man does. It won't affect our preparation at all. You don't know. Whoever is out there will be their guy."

On Oklahoma State Head Coach Mike Gundy saying UTSA Could Compete in the Big 12 Conference
"It was high praise. I just want to compete with one team Big 12 right now and that's the one in Stillwater. We have a chance to have a really good football team. We've got to continue to grow. I've seen glimpses of what we can be."
