Game Balls (FIU)

The InsideRunnerSports staff hands out Game Balls for the FIU game.

UTSA came from behind to beat FIU on Saturday. Several players played well. We hand out our Game Balls for the FIU game.

Offensive Game Ball: QB Austin Robinson

The redshirt freshman from Houston was thrust into action Saturday after starting QB Blake Bogenschutz was knocked out of the game with a hand injry. After struggling early on, Robinson seemed to settle into a nice groove passing and running the ball. Robinson finished the game going 14 for 17 for 144 passing yards. He also rushed 15 times for 64 yards. There were probably another 100 yards of offense that Robinson amassed that was negated by penalties and a long dropped pass.

It was the first significant action Robinson has seen this season. For his poise and playmaking abilities, Robinson earns our offensive game ball.

Defensive Game Ball: DE Robert Singletary

The senior product from Kingwood had a dominating performance for the Hard Hat Defense. Singletary recorded a program record 4.5 tackles for a loss, including 3 very huge sacks. On the day, Singletary amassed 10 total tackles, forced 1 fumble, had 1 QB hurry, and even broke up a pass.

Singletary was a CUSA honorable mention player in 2013. Headed into this season, he was named to the Lombardi Award Watchlist as well as preseason the All-CUSA first team. For his dominating performance Saturday, Singletary earns our defensive game ball.
