Visit Gets High Marks

This Juco tight end just took his first official visit and he checked out UTSA over the weekend. We have an update as he prepares for his second visit, this one to a Mountain West school.

UTSA hosted Evan Faunce this past weekend, a Juco tight end target from Glendale Junior College (AZ). His trip to San Antonio was his first official visit and he really enjoyed seeing UTSA and what the program had to offer.

"I had a great visit. I got a chance to see everything that UTSA is about, as far as the football, academics, and campus life. Talking to Coach Coker and the coaches individually, they really seem as the program is going in the right direction," said Faunce.

Things are just heating up for the 6'4" 240lb tight end. He'll be headed off to San Jose State for his second official visit this Friday. Then after that, a few weeks in between his scheduled visit to BIG10 country and Purdue. Neither program has officially offered, but that's likely to change once he arrives on campus.

One thing that is a change for Faunce is that he will not be a mid-year transfer after all. It's nothing within his control and has nothing to do with grades.

"I'm a May graduate. Coming from a D1 school (Ball State) back to a Junior College, you have to graduate with your Associates. I will graduate in May, but plan on signing during national signing day," said Faunce.

While at Ball State, Faunce did not log any snaps and was red shirted, leaving him with 3 years to play 3 when he graduates from Glendale.

His visit as a whole really left an impression on him and it's the reason why UTSA is now one of his top choices, along with San Jose State and Purdue.

"Overall I'm getting a pretty good vibe. They (UTSA) have an upcoming senior tight end in David Morgan and he's a great player. They want to use us and be interchangeable. I like what they're saying. I came into my visit to UTSA thinking it was going to be a pretty good experience, but I came out of it with a much better experience than I thought. UTSA is definitely in my top 3, I just need to take the time and see other schools."
