Former Michigan QB to Join UTSA

UTSA has added another QB to their roster for 2015 with Michigan Graduate Transfer Russell Bellomy.

Former Michigan QB Russell Bellomy will join UTSA in 2015 and will be immediately eligible to play in the fall.

In four seasons at Michigan, Bellomy played in just six games. In his career, he completed 4 out of 23 passes for 46 yards. He saw the most action of his career (5 games) in his sophomore season (2012).

Three weeks ago, Michigan gave Bellomy permission to talk to other schools. Under NCAA guidelines, players who graduate with eligibility remaining have the option to transfer to another school without losing a year of eligibility. Bellomy is scheduled to graduate from Michigan this spring.

In late January, Bellomy wrote the following statement on his Instagram account: "I will receive my degree at the end of this semester and have decided to sign my release that enables me to play my 5th year as a graduate student at another university."

Originally out of Martin High School in Arlington, Bellomy is a 6'3" 217lb pro-style QB. He will have one year of eligibility to play for UTSA.

Out of high school, Bellomy was a three-star prospect that held offers from Boise State, Colorado, Michigan State, Minnesota, Purdue, and Michigan.

Bellomy visited San Antonio this week and pledged to join UTSA on Sunday.
