‘Runners Add Juco O-Lineman for 2015

In the spring, Head Coach Larry Coker said there were some positions UTSA would be looking to shore up headed into next season. On Wednesday the ‘Runners made a late addition to the 2015 recruiting class with a Juco OL to shore up the offensive line position.

Blinn College Offensive Lineman Austin Pratt committed to UTSA Wednesday night and will be available to play immediately in 2015.

“It feels great,” Pratt said about committing to UTSA. “I’m going to go there and earn me a spot and help the team start winning.”

Pratt is a 6’3” 305lbs interior offensive lineman that was recruited by UTSA to play the Center position. However, Pratt has experience playing all three interior o-line positions.

“I’m flexible between Guard or Center but I’ll be there for Center, that’s what they want me to play,” said Pratt.

As a late addition to the 2015 recruiting class, Pratt is planning on being at UTSA over the summer. His addition will add depth to a position that is young in experience.

In fact, Pratt says he hopes he could push for immediately playing time and potentially earn a starting role.

“Yes sir, that’s what I’m going there for, to start. I’m going to bring aggressiveness and a mean-streak coming in,” said Pratt.

Originally out of Sealy High School in the Houston area, Pratt was a member of the 2013 recruiting before signing with Blinn. UTSA had recruited him early on in the 2015 cycle but didn’t offer until recently. Pratt chose UTSA over another late offer from Troy.

“I wanted to stay in Texas,” Pratt said about choosing UTSA over Troy. “And Coach Markuson, the o-line coach, was really the difference for me.”

Pratt redshirted in 2013 and played in 2014, which means he has three full years of eligibility left.

He will visit UTSA on Friday then return to Blinn to complete his coursework.
