DL Target Sets Date

This defensive lineman was targeted this week by UTSA and has already set a date for committing. He talks about his Roadrunner offer.

La Marque Defensive Tackle Aymiel Fleming got the call from UTSA on Tuesday that he’s been waiting for.

“They (UTSA) kept calling and finally offered, they told me that I’m the guy they need,” said Fleming. “Coach Coker is a great guy. I talked to him the day they signed off on my offer. They’re not just small school that just came in, I know they’ve accomplished a substantial amount.”

UTSA is offer number five for Fleming. His other offers are: SMU, Nevada, Liberty, and McNeese State. But Fleming says UTSA is unique.

“UTSA is trying to do big things,” said Fleming. “That’s what is keeping me kind of in-tune to them. Even though they’re still a young program, they’re still doing the right thing.”

At 6’2” and 285lbs, Fleming plays Defensive Tackle but is versatile to play both positions along the d-line.

“I can really play it all,” said Fleming. “I’ve got the body frame. I don’t have to put on much weight to play DT. I don’t have to take off much weight to play DE. I’m 6-2 but I carry 285 extremely well. I’ll most likely grow a little taller because I’m only 16 right now. By the time I’m 19, I’ll be a whole other man.”

On the field, Fleming says he uses both his physical and mental strength to be successful.

“They told me that they could tell that I have aggressiveness and the fire,” said Fleming. “I’m explosive, I use my hands well, I’m very strong. I’ve got great lateral quickness for a big guy. I use my hand-eye coordination to my advantage. I know the game, I know blocking schemes and I’m coachable.”

Fleming isn’t in a hurry to commit. According to him, programs like Kansas State, Kansas, Texas A&M, Northwestern, and Texas Tech are seriously looking at him. “There’s a lot coming in, it will all come to me. But I really want to commit on August 3. I want to commit before football starts,” said Fleming.

UTSA has been recruiting Fleming for a little over a month. He’s been invited to UTSA’s summer camp and he going to try to make it.
