D-Lineman Talks UTSA Offer

Yates DL Anthony Watts picked up a UTSA offer about a month ago. With a handful of other offers in his pocket, he talks about his plans for the future.

Houston Yates DL Anthony Watts was offered by UTSA on May 26 after meeting the UTSA coaching staff.

“UTSA is a school I'm interested in as I am real big on the head coach. He has great experience and has coached some great players,” said Watts.

UTSA isn’t the only school currently showing some interest in Watts.

“The University of Houston, University of Missouri, LSU, A&M and Iowa State have all showed interest in me,” said Watts. “I am about to be at U of H and I have an unofficial visit with Rice University.”

Watts’ playing style seems to be earning him quite a lot of college interest.

“I am aggressive, athletic, hard working and I really don’t take any plays off because we don’t have plays to take off. I really just like going hard every play,” said Watts. “I was all-district this year.”

Watts currently holds offer from UTSA, Kansas, California, Colorado State, Nevada, Texas St and Rice. Even with all these interests, Watts does have a strong sense of what he is looking for in a college.

“Education first, and then the environment because they are going to be my next school, and I want to be comfortable with who ever I choose,” said Watts.

Watts is 6’5 and 293lbs. With interests still coming his way, Watts isn’t quite ready to commit to a school just yet.

“I don’t know if I’ll commit before or after this upcoming football season. I’m just not sure yet.”
