QB High on UTSA

Magnolia West QB Tyler Ferre camped and visited UTSA recently. The pro-style QB talks about his recruitment.

Magnolia West QB Tyler Ferre visited UTSA several weeks ago and walked away impressed.

“I really love how they do things,” Ferre said. “It went really good.”

Ferre participated in UTSA’s camp in Katy in June. He was invited to this most recent camp in San Antonio just to visit and be around the coaching staff and visit.

“They wanted me to come up to hang out around camp. I went to a camp previously over in Katy. They seemed to really like me. After camp, I took a tour around the ‘Dome and walked around campus.”

Ferre said he got to spend a lot of time with Offensive Coordinator Kevin Brown.

“He’s a guy I can really relate to,” Ferre said about Coach Brown. “He really likes to try to understand where you’re coming from. From every little detail, he gets everything down to it; from how to hold the football, to the throwing motion, the follow through, everything. I really like that. We were talking in his office for a little bit running through plays and drawing things on the board. We were going on and on. It was really good.”

Ferre said he was also impressed with the UTSA campus.

“The campus is really nice. It’s really big and beautiful. I like that it’s a good campus. It was really nice, I loved it.”

At 6’3” and 195lbs, Ferre is a prototypical pro-style quarterback. But the way he describes it, Ferre likes to keep the mental aspect of football in perspective.

“Whenever the game is on the line, or in a situation when things go bad, I never get myself too high and I never get myself too low. I try to keep an even keel and keep myself calm and collected in every single situation. I feel that puts my team in the best situation to win.”

Currently, Ferre holds one offer from Georgia Southern that he landed in April. Since then, schools like UTSA, Iowa State, UNT, Abilene Christian, and ULL have all been talking to him.

Ferre has been keeping in contact with UTSA. And while no offer has been extended yet, he hopes one could be coming soon.

“I hope,” Ferre said when asked if he thought UTSA was going to offer. “I really love UTSA. I love everything about it.”
