At 6’3” 215lbs, McLin has the frame to grow into a prototypical Division 1 Defensive End.
From Scout.com Regional Analyst Gabe Brooks: “McLin is a long, lean pass-rusher with a high upside. Plays even-front 7-technique end in HS and projects there in college, though an odd-front standing edge rusher role is a possibility. Very impressive length. Natural pass-rushing instincts. Good production for strong HS program. Must gain weight to improve strength vs. larger O-linemen. Adding mass is top priority long-term, but possesses a ton of space on his frame to achieve that.”
In 2014, McLin's recorded 80 tackles, including 19 tackles for loss. He nabbed eight sacks, forced one fumble and grabbed one fumble recovery.
This is the second player UTSA has landed from Carthage, which is a small East-Texas town. McLin is the former teammate of current UTSA QB Blake Bogenschutz. In 2013, the two won the 3A Division 1 State Championship.
McLin is the fourth player to commit to UTSA’s 2016 recruiting class. Here is the rest of the class:

- CB Carrington Kearney 6-0/172lbs Hendrickson HS Pflugerville
