Morgan: “It’s time to take that next step”

Tight End David Morgan has seen the UTSA Football program grow over the years. Fresh off his big game vs Arizona and just a few days from another big one vs K-State, we talked with the Senior from Marble Falls.

Interview with UTSA Tight End David Morgan:

What are your thoughts on the Arizona game?
“We played hard. Obviously we try to win every game. It showed a lot of promise. A lot of players made plays. It shows we have pretty high potential and a high ceiling. So I’m ready to correct the mistakes and come out the next game ready to play.”

Were you surprised how successful the offense was?
“Not at all. We’ve worked our tails off. We’ve done our due diligence. I knew it was going to be like that and I was just ready to see it and ready for everybody else to see it.”

How did it feel to have a career-night?
“It felt good. Honestly, it felt really good to get out there in the first game of the season and get moving around and start off on a hot note. I’ve just got to continue to play at that high level and push it.”

Do you expect to be targeted so much?
We’ve been working a lot of stuff. But when someone is heating up you just kind of keep feeding them. Coach Brown did a job with great play calls and got me in the right position to make plays and Bogie threw some excellent balls.”

What do you know about K-State?
“They run a similar defense that we run, a lot of same base stuff that we’ve been running. It’s nothing different. They fly around. Their defensive end is pretty good, he’s real active, so I’ll have my job cut out for me.”

UTSA has been close to beating some of these big schools, do you feel like the time is coming?
“It’s time. After the game against Arizona I went up to my dad and just started crying. He asked me what I was so upset about. I told him it was games like that, we’ve been so close so many times. It’s time to take that next step. I feel like this is our chance, this is our game, and we’re going to do it. “
