Multiple sources confirm to InsideRunnerSports that backup QB Russell Bellomy has left UTSA’s football program.
Bellomy was a Graduate Transfer from the University of Michigan. Originally out of Arlington, Bellomy spent four years in Ann Harbor. He earned his degree this past spring and then came to UTSA over the summer.
This season for the Roadruners, Bellomy appeared in three games. He completed 7 of 13 passes for 109 yards and rushed 7 times for 28 yards.
In four seasons at Michigan, Bellomy played in just six games. In his career as a Wolverine, he completed 4 out of 23 passes for 46 yards. He saw the most action of his career (5 games) in his sophomore season (2012).
This is the second quarterback to leave UTSA this fall. Prior to the season-opening game at Arizona, Sophomore QB Austin Robinson left the team one week after making a position change to Safety.
Bellomy’s departure means that UTSA now has four QBs on the roster:
- Blake Bogenschutz Redshirt Freshman
- Dalton Sturm, Sophomore
- Manny Harris, True Freshman
- Jaylon Henderson, True Freshman
Harris, who traveled to Tucson for the season-opening game, is in El Paso and will take over the role as QB3.
