Offensive Game Ball: RB Jarveon Williams
RB Jarveon Williams rushed once for -3 yards in the first half. At halftime, Williams said UTSA coaches chewed them out and that the halftime speech motivated the offense to come out and run it down Charlotte’s throat. That’s exactly what Williams and the offense did. The San Antonio product finished the game with 181 yards on 19 rushes with 1 touchdown. Williams also had a one of the biggest plays of the game with an 68 yard rush out of halftime that setup a touchdown. Williams’ 181 yards set a school record.
What was most impressive about Williams’ performance is the fact that we was not 100%. For the second straight game, backup Jalen Rhodes started the game. Williams has battling shoulder injury. Williams’ season stats: 874 yards on 151 rushes with 6 touchdowns.
For his exceptional performance, Williams earns our offensive game ball.
Defensive Game Ball: S Duke Wheeler
After earning another start for exceptional play last week, Wheeler made the most of his chances in the defensive backfield. Wheeler set a school record with 11 solo tackles. His 14 total tackles was just a few way from setting the school mark in that category. The East Texas-native, who’s played every Safety position for UTSA the last few weeks, leads the team with 76 total tackles.
For his exceptional performance, Wheeler earns our defensive game ball.
