Coffeyville Juco DT Bentley Easley says UTSA is in top two schools as he looks to join a program as a late addition to the 2016 recruiting class.
“I’ve got some other offers, but right now I’m really focused on UTSA and Eastern Michigan to see which one I like,” said Easley.
The 6’3” 320lb defensive lineman is scheduled to visit Eastern Michigan on Tuesday. He visited UTSA this past weekend and had rave reviews.
“It was cool, I really liked it,” Easley said of his UTSA visit. “It was my first time being in Texas, it was a beautiful area, I really enjoyed myself.”
Easley was in town from Thursday afternoon through Saturday morning. That allowed him to take in UTSA’s Friday practice, the first in pads.
“It was high-energy, everyone was excited. It was also high tempo, everyone was moving real fast. It was good energy out there.”
Following practice, Easley toured UTSA’s campus and facilities. He was surprised by what UTSA had to offer.
“It was beautiful,” Easley said of the campus and facilities. “I honestly wasn’t expecting the campus to be that nice. Everything was real new. I liked it.”
One of the highlights of Easley’s visit was his trip to the Alamodome.
“That was probably the best part of the whole trip honestly,” Easley said about the Alamodome. “Checking it out, actually standing there imagining it being filled. That was off the chain. The locker room and equipment room too. I was surprised with how much gear they have.”
Easley is being recruiting by Defensive Line Coach Eric Henderson. He says he likes the energy both Henderson and Head Coach Frank Wilson bring to the table.
“They are some good people,” Easley said of the coaching staff. “They’re young and energetic. They’ve got a lot of enthusiasm.”
At 6’3” and 320lbs, Easley brings some size. But he says he’s a versatile player.
“I’m a nose guard with a big body. I can clog the hole, run stop. At the same time, I’m a good pass rusher so I’m versatile. For my size, I’m agile.”
After he visits Eastern Michigan, Easley says he’s looking to make a decision quickly. He plans on enrolling at the school he selects in June.
“I’ll make my decision by the end of this weekend,” said Easley .
