Keys to a UTSA victory over Arizona State:
SLOW ARIZONA STATE’S OFFENSE
By now, we’ve all seen, read, or heard about ASU’s offensive explosion last week vs Texas Tech. The Sun Devils come to San Antonio with a prolific offense. Featuring two exceptional running backs, expect ASU to try to get their running game going early and often. If UTSA is to have a chance in this game, they will need to be stout against the run, kind of like we’ve seen them be in the second half of the first two games of the season.
RUN THE BALL
UTSA’s best defense will be a good offense. Last week UTSA struggled with their running game. They simply could not get it going. The onus will fall on the offensive line to improve from last week. From there, it will be on RBs Jarveon Williams and Jalen Rhodes to produce when called upon. Slow and methodical offensive drives will be key in keeping ASU’s offense off the field and UTSA in the game.
SHOCK THE WORLD MENTALITY
This matchup has trap-game written all over if for Arizona State. The Sun Devils are coming off a big non-conference last week and open PAC-12 play next week. There’s a ton of excitement surrounding ASU. On the flip side, UTSA is coming off a disappointing road loss and, quite honestly, most aren’t expecting much from the Roadrunners. Theses are the types of games where upsets happen. It starts between the ears.
