Keys to a UTSA victory over Southern Miss:
Southern Miss QB Nick Mullens is the best signal-caller UTSA has faced thus far this season. He’s coming off nearly a 600 yard performance vs Rice last week. Southern Miss is at the top or near the top of every offensive statistical category in Conference USA. For UTSA to have a shot, they must slow Mullens and the Golden Eagles’ high-powered offense.
If there’s one thing that has been Mullens’ achilles heel this season is turnovers. Mullens leads the league with seven interceptions. UTSA’s d-line needs to get after it and put some pressure on Mullens. UTSA has benefited well from turnovers this season. They’ll need to create more Saturday to be successful.
RIDE DALTON STRUM
UTSA’s offense has been its best when Dalton Sturm is doing Dalton Sturm things. A true dual-threat, Sturm’s innate ability to scramble has paid dividends for UTSA. The Roadrunners will want to have a balanced offense. But when they put the ball in Sturm’s hand, they need to turn him loose.
