Knight lands offer

Shallowater HS sits just Northwest of Red Raider Country, not too far from the New Mexico state line. That's where Dennis Franchione and his staff have found their newest TE target and BI has the latest.

Cameron Knight recently picked up his 2nd offer from the Bobcat Staff, adding to his previous one from UTEP.

"Coach Johnson had been in contact with me. I went to the school a week before they offered, looked at it and everything. We've been in contact after I visited. It's a beautiful campus and looks like a great place," said Knight.

The 6'3" 250lb prospect is being recruited as a TE by Texas State. He shows great versatility and started both ways for the Mustangs, at TE and DE. On the offensive side he finished with 17 receptions for 310 yards and 6 TD's.

Along with his current two offers, Texas Tech is showing interest. He recently attended one of their satellite camps. He'll be racking up some frequent flyer miles as he already has plans to visit Air Force on June 21, Nebraska, Stanford and San Diego State are to follow. Rice, Minnesota, Baylor and SMU are programs he's already visited or about too.

As for the Bobcats, Knight remains anxious and he admits that Texas State is at the top. He'll get another first hand look at the staff in Grand Prairie as he'll be at the satellite camp.

"I'm looking forward to meeting all the coaches this week at Grand Prairie. I'm excited. They're definitely right there at the top. I'm just looking forward to meeting the coaching staff and see how the camps play out."

Knight is a strong kid who flashes athleticism and versatility. He can line up on either side of the ball. He's usually got reliable hands to haul in passes and reports 4.84 speed.

Even though the Bobcats are sitting at the top, Knight doesn't give any exact details on when he'll sit down and pull the trigger on a decision.

"I kind of have an idea of when to make a decision, but we'll just see."
