Another defender gets Bobcat offer
5'9 Joseph Clark from Chapel Hill High School in Tyler, Texas, who participated in a recent Texas State junior camp, is waiting to hear from more interested programs in the coming weeks. Clark mentioned that Navy had been in talks with him as well as other local programs like UTSA, Texas Tech, Houston and Rice. "I'm just trying to get all the offers that I can to see which one is best for me," Clark said. "Texas State has been a big school for me. I don't want to make any quick decisions just yet." Clark might not be the tallest but he is what Texas State is looking for in the strength department. In a recent interview with BI, Franchione talked about how good teams can be measured by how much its players can lift. Clark is a powerlifting state finalist and squats 480 pounds, benching 355, despite only being 180 pounds himself. Clark runs a 4.4, 40. It's not about the height of a receiver for Clark, it's about how hard they fall. "I like to hit," Clark said. "I don't care how big somebody is, I'm going to hit them. I've got speed, I'm not going to stop and I'm going to make the tackle no matter what. Whatever it takes to get to the ball." Clark was a first team All-East Texas safety his sophomore season and was named as an all-state honorable mention safety this past season. Clark has been part of two Chapel Hill state championship runs but the Bulldogs saw the opposite end of the spectrum this past year, going just 3-7. Clark also spends time at running back for Chapel Hill. As a sophomore, Clark tallied 406 yards, nearly 8 yards per carry. This past season, Clark's rushing total leaped to 712, still averaging nearly 8 yards per touch. He had 180 yards on 9 carries that went for three scores against Spring Hill in October.
