Texas State offers panhandle prospect

Last year the Panhandle area made some headlines when they produced a few high level commits. This defensive end isn't too far off their lead and has picked up his second offer from Texas State.

Canyon High School sits directly south of Amarillo, about a 15 minute drive. It's closer to 4 other states than San Marcos, but that hasn't stopped the staff from offering and recruiting Dylan Douglass.

Douglass is a 6'3" 230lb d-end that was offered at the end of May. Wide Receivers Coach Jason Johnson reached out to his Head Coach and had Dylan call him. It was just one week after the staff had stopped by to see Douglass in action during spring practice.

Along with the Bobcats, Rice has offered. The Owl's extended shortly after he attended their junior day event. For the moment those are his only two offers, but programs like Texas Tech, New Mexico and Colorado State are showing strong interest.

Douglass has yet to set foot on the Texas State campus, but he and his family do plan on going down to San Marcos for a trip. The family has had past vacations on the river so they're not total strangers to the area.

He doesn't list any favorites and is actually taking a rare route now a days: sitting back, relaxing and enjoying the blessing of being recruited.

Personally, Douglass does like the schools in Texas more. Being able to drive home is a definite bonus. Another factor is that Dylan grew up in a Texas Tech household. His father is a Red Raider and just last week Dylan camped with the Red Raiders, where he ran a 4.6 40 yard dash.

Getting him on campus will be huge for the Bobcat staff as they try to position themselves as a serious contender.
