Cen-Tex athlete has Bobcat offer

The time is coming for some football prospects who would like to sit down, look at all of their options and potentially make a decision if he gets that gut feeling. This Cen-Tex prospect is taking it all in stride and doesn't plan on making any decisions soon.

Manor High School is about a 35 minute drive just east of Austin, if you catch traffic on a good day. That's where you'll find Jonathan Johnson. A 6'0.5" 205lb athlete who was offered earlier this spring by the Texas State Coaching Staff.

Texas State and Prairie View A&M are his two offers at the moment, with Tulsa and Oklahoma State showing interest.

The Bobcats offer came as a surprise to Johnson. He received it during the spring and was left sort of speechless when he got the news.

Because of the proximity to San Marcos, he's begun to look more into the program and he's intrigued by what the 'Cats have to offer.

"I'm going to camp down there on July 19th," Johnson said. "I've been looking at the school getting ready to go. They have a good engineering program and the academic support too off the field is good."

Cornerbacks Coach Jason Washington is responsible for his recruitment and he's letting Johnson know that they like his style of play. He recently timed at a 4.6 40 and it's that speed that the staff likes. They haven't honed in on a certain defensive spot for Johnson, they just want to get him on the field and they'll find a position for him.

A visit to campus could possibly have a huge impact on Jonathan, but don't hold your breath. He plans on taking his time to explore all options before making a decision.

Last year as a junior he led the Mustangs in tackles, and had 15 sacks earning All District Honors.
