Hoops Recruiting Update

BI first told you about this 6'8" big man last month and now recently he completed an in home visit with the Texas State Basketball staff and we have the latest.

Head Coach Danny Kaspar and his staff are full throttle in landing their first commit and building for an all important 2014 class. Connor McClenaghan, a 6'8" 210lb low post prospect with range from Hebron HS, got to sit down and talk with the head man recently.

"Coach Danny Kaspar did an in home visit last week. It was nice to sit down and talk with him. It was my 2nd home visit. Weber State visited earlier. We talked for about 2 hours. About the campus and my expectations. It was good to sit down with him. I got to get a feel for him," said McClenaghan.

Since we last spoke with Connor, he's picked up two new offers and more programs are showing interest. New Hampshire and Abilene Christian both recently extended scholarships. Heavy hitters such as Texas Tech and TCU from the Big XII recently reached out and let him know that they'll be watching very closely.

The early signing period is less than two months away, plenty of commitments have been given and signing a LOI is now a mere formality. McClenaghan sounds pretty clear on what he wants to do.

"As of right now, Texas State will be getting a visit, just not sure if it'll be an official or unofficial because they aren't too far. Texas State is in Texas, but far enough. They're a big mid major school and that's what I'm looking for. It's Texas State and Weber State at the top, then everyone else," said McClenaghan.

Look for Connor to have a decision come November and his intention is to sign his LOI later that month, with Texas State sitting in a good position.
