Get To Know: UL Lafayette

It's an exciting week here in Bobcat Nation. This week we're learning a bit more about Texas State's first conference foe, Louisiana Lafayette.

Head Coach: Mark Hudspeth
This is Hudspeth's second season as the Ragin Cajun's head coach. He's led his teams to two 9-4 seasons and turned their program around the day he arrived. Hudspeth, in his first season, led Lafayette to their first bowl win in 41 seasons. Last year, Hudspeth followed his 2011 New Orleans Bowl victory by with a 2012 New Orleans Bowl victory. He's had a great start with the team to say the least.

Program History
The Ragin Cajuns have an overall losing record (476-513). They've had a football program since 1902 but haven't been a relevant ball club until two years ago. UL Lafayette has won 14 conference championships since the early 1900's and 4 since they were an official FBS team. UL Lafayette's oldest rivalry is against Lamar, dating back to 1921 in a UL Lafayette win. They've never played Texas State to date, making it their first meeting in over 200 years of their programs combined history.

NFL History
Lafayette has four players in the NFL right now. They've had over a hundred players go through the league, but no big names worth mentioning.
