Pearland DL Visits

Numbers are starting to get tight for Texas State's 2014 recruiting class. This D-lineman recently trekked to San Marcos for an unofficial and we have the recap.

Another target that made it Texas State this past weekend was Cody Casey of Pearland Dawson High School. The 6'4" 262lb D-lineman has an offer from the 'Cats and made the trip with his family for the USA game.

"Me, my dad and little sister came up. It was fun, I've been to Texas State before for a junior day. The stadium was packed. It was a great game. The atmosphere was awesome and I enjoyed it," said Casey.

The 'Cats offered back during the summer. Along with Texas State, Fresno State, North Texas, New Mexico State, and Air Force are currently all of his offers.

Casey has a taller, lean frame. The Coaching Staff likes him at defensive end, but Casey has no reservations if he's asked to change positions at the next level.

"I played LB as a sophomore at Dawson. Then I moved and my junior year, I had a standout year at East chambers as a middle linebacker. This summer I moved back to Dawson and I gained some good weight, I got up to 260. I'm big enough and strong enough to play D-end, but I do play some D-tackle. Some coaches have said that I'm slim at 6'4" 260lbs. I'm open to both and have no problem if i have to gain weight," said Casey.

Earlier in the recruiting process, Rice was a favorite of Casey's, but the owls have since filled up at his position. That's made him think a little bit more about making the call.

"I have thought about making a decision a lot. Especially with Rice filling up. It's definitely made me start thinking about it. I'd like to visit 1 or 2 more schools before deciding. I definitely want to visit Fresno State and probably New Mexico State," said Casey.

Although he plans more visits, the Bobcats made another good impression and are squarely in the mix.
