Game Balls: Idaho

This has been the best road trip of the season for Texas State. It was their highest scoring performance, and in turn deserves some Game Balls.

Here are this weeks Game Ball recipients:

1. Tyler Jones

This week, Jones stepped up completing 19 out of 24 passes. Spreading the ball to 9 different targets, he threw for his career high 228 yards. This is very unlike young quarterbacks who tend to stick to what they think are their most "reliable" targets. Not the case for this freshman, he had 3 passes to Brandon Smith and Jafus Gaines, and 2 to everyone else from Ijah to Erickson. His ability to read his shorter routes has greatly increased and his ability to spread the ball wherever he needs to makes him much harder to prepare for. Also, his corner endzone pass to Isaiah Battle with 6 seconds left in the half didn't make Sports Center's top 10 but was his best play of the season.

2. Damion McMiller He replaced starter David Mayo for the second straight week and has played with the "next man up" mentality. The senior was second in total tackles out of all defenders, with 12. He helped contain the rush game with his single TFL/Sack on QB Taylor Davis for 9 yards. The pressure on him to replace arguably the best defender on the Texas State defense must be high, but he's come into every game so far playing at the highest level possible.
